On July 3, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a press briefing to announce new policies of the Party and State related to overseas Vietnamese, as well as to introduce the Vietnam Summer Camp 2025 program.
With the theme "Together We Continue the Story of Peace," this year’s Vietnam Summer Camp is scheduled to take place from July 13 to 26, bringing together more than 100 delegates who are young overseas Vietnamese students and youth from 31 countries and territories.
The journey will take participants through Ho Chi Minh City, Đắk Lắk, Quảng Ngãi, Đà Nẵng, Quảng Trị, Nghệ An, Ninh Bình, and Hanoi, offering opportunities to connect with the culture, history, and economy across all three regions of the country.
Strengthening the bonds between young overseas Vietnamese and their homeland
According to Mr. Nguyễn Trung Kiên, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, this year’s program carries a message of honoring history and inspiring a spirit of peace, as the country marks several major milestones: the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 135th birth anniversary of President Hồ Chí Minh, the 50th anniversary of national reunification, and the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of National Day.

Vietnam Summer Camp 2025 features several noteworthy new elements, most notably the opening ceremony, which will be held for the first time in Đắk Lắk – a land rich in Central Highlands cultural identity. Delegates will take part in activities of remembrance, such as visits to the Củ Chi Tunnels and the Quảng Trị Martyrs’ Memorial, and participate in cultural exchanges with ethnic minority communities and, in particular, officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations under the Ministry of National Defense.
In addition, participants will explore cultural heritage sites such as Hội An Ancient Town and Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng National Park, learn about coffee production, and gain insight into Vietnam’s modern economic, scientific, and cultural strengths.
The program continues its mission of strengthening the bonds between young overseas Vietnamese and their homeland, fostering national pride and a sense of responsibility in contributing to the country’s development.
It also serves as an opportunity to promote the image of a friendly, progressive, and peace-loving Vietnam to the international community.
New Citizenship Law brings greater benefits for overseas Vietnamese
According to Mr. Nguyễn Trung Kiên, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the National Assembly has recently passed amendments to the Law on Vietnamese Nationality, creating more favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to acquire or regain Vietnamese citizenship while retaining their foreign nationality.
In addition, the newly adopted Law on Science, Technology, and Innovation affirms science and technology as key drivers of national development. These legal adjustments open up broader opportunities for overseas Vietnamese to contribute meaningfully to the country’s growth, particularly in the fields of innovation and the attraction of high-quality human resources.
